I recently read in an Ocado magazine (I'm well aware I need a hobby) that we spend four days every year in supermarkets. I'm rather partial to Ocado since pleasantly discovering they deliver food in colour-coordinated bags (I'm working on getting a hobby, I promise), but this is a pointless statistic.
The time we spend doing anything will accrete to a scary-sounding amount of time over the space of a year. So, for the first time since school I've applied my Maths GCSE to real life. Here are some other useless daily activities and how much time they take up every year:
- Refreshing my Twitter feed: 36 minutes
- Getting my tea bag out of the mug with my fingers, stubbornly insisting it’ll be quicker than finding a spoon: 15 hours
- Deciding between a dash or a comma: 1 hour, 36 minutes
- Trying to figure out why people use semicolons: 2 hours
- Putting things in my ASOS basket before remembering I have no money: 40 hours
- Watching YouTube videos of unlikely animal friendships consisting of two different species: 30 hours
- Feeling like I've got something in my eye and trying to locate it: 10 hours, 30 minutes
- Rubbing hand cream into my hands: 15 hours, 30 minutes
- Looking up the definition of 'veritable' because I just don't understand it: 2 hours
- Coming up with names for my future, veritable pet dogs: 4 hours
Oh my Goodness, numbers three and five are the bane of my life!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Glad I'm not alone! Well now you know how long it adds up to over a year!
